Carrie Herrera Niesen serves as the Director of Marketing Strategy for Knowledge Enterprise at Arizona State University. She leads strategic marketing and communications to elevate ASU’s $1B research enterprise and accelerate the visibility of its most impactful work.
Her work centers on launching and amplifying high-profile, emerging research across Knowledge Enterprise’s strategic research areas. She partners closely with stakeholders across academia, industry, government and the broader community to strengthen ASU’s position as a global leader in use-inspired research that drives societal impact.
Carrie brings a rare blend of academic, entrepreneurial and strategic communications experience to her role, including five years as a faculty member, more than six years in startup and small business environments, and professional experience living and working in Spanish-speaking countries, where she taught English abroad. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she brings a global perspective to scaling emerging research and translating complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
Hailing originally from small town Wisconsin, she now lives in Tempe with her husband and blue heeler.
