Amy serves as the Senior Instructional Designer for Arizona State University's Office of Medical Education in the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering, where she leads initiatives to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning. Drawing on over 20 years of experience in education, she uses design-thinking principles to support faculty and students through innovative, human-centered instructional design.
Amy has taught graduate-level courses at ASU in Scientific Teaching, an approach to course and lesson design that applies the qualities essential for successful scientific research to education. Throughout her career, she has supported a wide spectrum of learners and educational professionals, including K-12 students, undergraduate and graduate students, community members, and faculty.
As a doctoral student in Educational Leadership and Innovation at ASU, Amy's current research explores how communities of practice among instructional design leaders can enhance faculty development through collaborative knowledge-building and design thinking. By examining how these leaders support one another and drive inclusive, learner-centered teaching practices, her work aims to inform more empathetic, equity-minded approaches to institutional change in higher education.
