Anthony Howell is an Associate Professor of Public Policy and Management in the School of Public Affairs at Arizona State University. Prior to arriving to ASU, he served as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Applied Microeconomics in the School of Economics at Peking University, China’s flagship university. Anthony previously served as a Fulbright scholar at the Lincoln Institute of Urban Development and Land Policy (Beijing), a Science & Technology fellow at the National Academies of Sciences (Washington D.C.), and a research fellow at the Asian Development Bank (Manila). Anthony holds a PhD in Geography (UCLA), M.S. degrees in Statistics (UCLA) and GIScience (MSU), and B.A degrees in Political Science and International Development (MSU). A product of his diverse academic training and work experience spanning multiple disciplines (geography, statistics, economics, public policy), Anthony relies on state-of-the-art econometric methods, geospatial visualization and network analysis techniques often coupled with quasi-experimental research designs in order to study some of the most pressing policy issues facing people, organizations and communities.
