Santiago Gea is an Instructional Designer and Faculty Associate at Arizona State University's Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. He holds an undergraduate degree in Linguistics from the University of Florida and two master's degrees from Arizona State University: one in Learning Design and Technologies and another in Narrative & Emerging Media.
Santiago currently works with EdPlus at Arizona State University, where he helps reimagine math education through adaptive learning tools and accessible platforms. His work centers on creating equitable and inclusive digital learning experiences that personalize instruction for diverse learners. As part of this effort, he contributes to MathSpine, a collaborative project that delivers adaptive math content designed with accessibility and student success at the forefront.
Santiago also collaborates with the Potawatomi Trail of Death Association to map and preserve the indigenous story of the Potawatomi forced removal. Using emerging technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and digital storytelling tools, he helps create immersive experiences that bring this historical tragedy to contemporary audiences. His work aims to honor Potawatomi voices and ensure their story is told with dignity and cultural sensitivity through innovative media.
As a faculty associate, Santiago is passionate about exploring meaningful ways to reimagine teaching and learning using digital technologies. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, creative arts, and playing guitar.

LDT 502 - Design and Development of Instruction
Centers on the design and development of competency-based instructional materials, based on a variety of instructional design models, for learning in a multitude of settings.
LDT 508 - Evaluation of Learning Systems
Examines procedures for evaluating educational programs, training systems and new-technology applications. Focuses on basic evaluation concepts, steps in conducting a systematic evaluation project, the preparation of an evaluation report, as well as ethical issues.
LDT 511 - Emerging Trends and Technologies for Learning Design
Identifies current and future trends in the field of educational technology. Examines key trends, developing technologies and the affordances these technologies might offer, as well as the challenges with implementation that might be faced.
LDT 523 - Distance in Online and Distance Education
Investigates current issues and trends specific to the implementation of web-based teaching and learning as well as practices for effective online instruction. Examines online learning principles, practices and their effectiveness by exploring the use of related systems and applications.
