Jonathan McMichael is the AI Learning Solutions Specialist for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University. In this role, he supports the integration of generative AI into teaching, learning, and student success initiatives across the College. His work focuses on empowering students and educators, improving educational outcomes at scale, and advancing learner-centered practices that help students develop transferable, high-impact skills in an AI-rich world.
Before joining The College, Jonathan served as a Learning Experience Designer with Fulton Schools of Engineering, where he led the development of AI-enhanced instructional design solutions and worked with faculty to develop high quality learning experiences for students. Prior to ASU, he spent a decade as an academic librarian focused on early undergraduate success and information literacy. He has developed university-wide curriculum, designed research-intensive assignments, launched student success programs that improved retention, and trained instructors in high-impact teaching practices.
He holds a BA in Education from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
