Long Bio
Seoyoung Lim is a PhD student and research assistant in the Educational Policy and Evaluation program at Arizona State University. Across K–12 and higher education, she investigates how inequality and normativity are structured in educational spaces and how they affect individual experiences. At the same time, she places equal importance on exploring possibilities for dismantling oppressive structures and identifying strategies for promoting equity. Understanding these complexities involves examining causes, consequences, mechanisms, and interventions, as well as identifying their trends and patterns. Accordingly, she employs methods that best explain phenomena—quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods.
By integrating insights shaped by her professional experiences—from the broad scope of international education administration to the close engagement in teaching in classrooms—with her sociological perspective, she focuses on the interaction between macro- and micro-level dynamics throughout her research.
