Daricia Wilkinson is an assistant professor in the Human Systems Engineering (HSE) program of The Polytechnic School. She is driven by a passion to build safe technology through knowledge creation about the harm that persists because of AI while actively engaging in foundational research to create protective mechanisms through design and governance. Her research interests rest at the intersection of responsible artificial intelligence, online safety and human computer interaction. Wilkinson was previously a postdoctoral researcher in the FATE group (Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics in AI) at Microsoft Research NYC. Before joining MSR, she earned her PhD at Clemson University in the Human-Centered Computing program while being advised by Dr. Bart Knijnenburg. During her time at Clemson University, she worked in research positions at IBM Research, NortonLifeLock Research Labs (formerly Symantec), Max Planck Institute, and others. She was named one of the top 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics in 2023.
