Md Tuhin Sheikh is an assistant professor (tenure-track) in biostatistics at the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University. Prior to joining ASU, he worked as a postdoctoral associate at Professor Hongyu Zhao’s lab, Department of Biostatistics, Yale University, from 2022-2024. He earned his PhD in statistics under the advisory of Professor Ming-Hui Chen at the University of Connecticut in 2022. Previously, he received BS and MS in applied statistics at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2013 and 2014, respectively. I am a former Faculty in Applied Statistics at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh from 2015-2017.
Sheikh's research focuses on developing statistical methodologies for survival and longitudinal data analysis within the Bayesian framework, which are motivated by challenging applications in complex diseases such as type 2 diabetes, prostate cancer, etc. His recent methodological developments include a semicompeting risks model that investigates the effects of both genetic and non-genetic risk factors on nonterminal and terminal events. Additionally, he has developed joint modeling techniques for longitudinal and competing risks survival data, cause-specific concordance indices, and methods for integrating complementary datasets to enhance the analysis of current data. His ongoing research includes developing statistical methodologies to investigate the importance of lipid profiles on disease risks. Sheikh's long-term goal is to better understand complex diseases by developing and applying rigorous statistical methods.
