Rebecca Gehrke completed her PhD at ASU in 2006. Her research and professional development focuses have been on improving the recruitment and retention of highly qualified special education teachers as well as on those evidence-based teacher practices that facilitate the inclusion of students with high-incidence disabilities in general education classrooms. Gehrke's current leadership and research projects include supporting honors students in the completion of their theses in MLFTC, piloting initial implementation of the Teacher Inquiry project into teacher preparation courses, as well as course enhancement and alignment at the program level. She along with her colleagues across all semesters of the teacher preparation programs are exposing undergrad students to the need for teachers to be researchers and will do so by gathering data on students' growth of knowledge and awareness of teacher action research as part of the Teacher Inquiry pilot program.

Current Research Project:
