Amy Bartlett

Amy Bartlett is a Clinical Associate Professor of Science Education at the Mary Lou Fulton College at Arizona State University, where she designs, coordinates, and teaches science methods courses for undergraduate and graduate teacher candidates. She works closely with colleagues across programs to advance inquiry-based teaching, inclusive learning environments, and real-world applications of science in K–12 classrooms. Amy especially enjoys helping future teachers bring curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking into their classrooms through hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

In addition to her curriculum work, Amy mentors, coaches, and evaluates student teachers during their practicum experiences—helping future educators develop the confidence and skills to lead classrooms rooted in curiosity and student-centered learning.

Before joining ASU, Amy taught science for 19 years at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in the Peoria Unified School District. A passionate advocate for STEAM education, she launched a middle school Space Academy elective, advised Girl Scouts on a scaled solar system hike for their Silver Award, and even led student science tours to Hawai‘i to study geology, marine biology, and the night sky under Mauna Kea. She holds an M.S. in Space Studies and has long championed Earth and space science education. As a NASA MESSENGER Educator Fellow, she led outreach for over 500 teachers nationwide, blending scientific wonder with practical classroom strategies.

Whether she’s working with preservice teachers or leading professional development across the Phoenix area, Amy’s mission is clear: to make science education meaningful, relevant, and accessible for all learners—and to keep the spark of curiosity alive for students and teachers alike.
