Carla Bishop joins ASU as an assistant professor of film and media production in the Sidney Poitier New American Film School. She is the Inaugural recipient of the MIT and Black Public Media Fellowship, hosted by the MIT Open Documentary Lab. Her work explores ways that media can be used to bring communities together to promote social change. She blends traditional documentary with immersive media such as augmented reality, geotagging and 360 video to tell place-based narratives of historically black communities.
