Luis is a Colombo Canadian designer and renowned product innovator, consultant, and entrepreneur with a master’s in design from Domus Academy Milan and a master’s in environmental design from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
He obtained his experience and education in America and Europe, became a renowned designer, and was established in Canada for fourteen years.
Angarita’s innovations have been awarded by the Red Dot Design, three times the Steel pencil award, the Palermo design award, nominee to innovators of America, the portfolio award, and recognized with the the Arts and business personality award of Montreal, also his designs have been selected by the jury of the Ibero-American and Shanghai Design Biennials, among others.
Co-founder of CD&I Associates, a Toronto-based innovation boutique established in Bogotá in 1995, his patents, innovations and inventions have helped entrepreneurs, startups, and companies worldwide to capture significant value among their markets.
Luis has taught at the Master of Design for Health and at the undergraduate level at OCAD University, chaired and rethought the graduate program in strategic design for the UPB University, created the strategic innovation course for the UN University COL, redesigned and taught the Design Management course for the Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Guest speaker at Pratt Institute N.Y., World Design Congress and Concordia University in Montreal, Holon Institute of Technology in Israel, UBA Argentina, and the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, among others.
Currently, he is based in Phoenix, Arizona, as Associate professor and Head of the Industrial Design program at The Design School, The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University in Tempe; and he is also a Design Advisory Board Member at NABA Milan,
Luis is working on a series of books that will condense his years of experience helping start-ups and entrepreneurs innovate, focusing his research on developing better tools and spaces to foster innovation.
He enjoys joining social causes and volunteering in equity and inclusion committees or projects looking to solve global challenges through design.
