As the Pediatric Specialty Coordinator for the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Arizona State University College of Nursing and Health Innovation, Diana Jacobson has designed and been lead faculty for the graduate pediatric curriculum that incorporates both an interactive online format and also utilizes dynamic synchronous and non-synchronous delivery of educational content using the latest technologies.
She is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner with more than 25 years of primary care and community experience caring for infants, children, adolescents and their families. In her clinical work, and in response to the urgent current need of behavioral health care in children and adolescents, she has become an expert on developmental and behavioral health issues in the pediatric population. In order to address these specific population health needs, she is additionally certified as a Pediatric Mental Health Specialist. Professor Jacobson has worked closely with the local community and national partners to design and implement healthy lifestyle interventions in the primary care and school settings that include behavioral health skill building techniques. She developed and pilot tested the Healthy Choices Intervention Program, which focuses on improving both the mental and physical health of overweight and obese school-aged children and adolescents in both primary care settings and with vulnerable populations within the community.
