Kim Reynolds is a Senior Program Manager on the Youth Entrepreneurship team with the J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute. In this role, Kim leads research, analysis and development strategies for existing and potential new partnerships for youth entrepreneurship and across Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute, in addition to providing expertise in new technologies and edtech tools for integration into new or existing K-12 programs.
Prior to joining the E+I team, Kim was a classroom teacher and CTE director/administrator for nine years at a Title I alternative high school in downtown Phoenix. As a teacher, Kim was a recipient of the Cardinals Donate to Educate grant in 2013 and 2015. She was recognized as a 2015 PBS Learning Media Digital Innovator. She served on the board for Arizona Technology in Education Association (AzTEA) and Arizona Business Educators Association (ABEA) and was a member of the Arizona Council of Occupational/Vocational Administrators (ACOVA).
Kim chose to become an educator after 12 years in the financial industry as a licensed stockbroker. Through her work with wealthy clients at two large financial firms, the one thing she learned was that the dividing line between the “haves” and “have nots” was not hard work, intelligence, or even traditional education. It was an understanding of how money works. Those who had achieved affluence through traditional means (not winning a lottery, inheritance, or being a celebrity) learned at a very early age the 10-10-80 rule and about budgeting. Kim decided to be the change she wanted to see in the world and made it her mission to become a teacher, specifically to teach personal finance to our most underserved students. Joining the ASU Youth Entrepreneurship team with Edson E+I allows her to continue serving that passion while adding the entrepreneurial element and expanding her influence beyond a single classroom.
Kim is an Arizona native and lifelong resident who loves exploring the Grand Canyon state with her husband and granddaughter. She has volunteered over 5000 hours to a variety of organizations and has received the President's Lifetime Award for Volunteer Service.
