Kathleen Haltorp

Katie Haltorp, M.Ed. is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation (MLFC) Division for Advancing Educator Preparation at Arizona State University. She brings more than twenty-three years of K-12 classroom experience in elementary and special education, including service as a special education teacher in Wisconsin and Arizona public schools. She earned dual undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Master of Education in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University.

Professor Haltorp’s teaching and leadership focus on preparing future educators to support exceptional learners through evidence-based instruction, inclusive practices, collaboration, assessment, and special education law. At ASU, she has taught and coordinated courses in special education foundations, behavior interventions, assessment, inclusive methodologies, literacy, and clinical practice. Her professional work also includes curriculum design, educator professional learning, district partnerships, and contributions to initiatives that strengthen teacher preparation and support students with learning differences.
