Reilly Hammond is a conservation biologist, educator, and artist whose work bridges wildlife health, community engagement, and technological innovation.
In her master's research, Reilly explored the intersection of color, chemistry, and disease in green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), developing noninvasive biomarkers to assess individual health and population-level disease burden. Her broader research goals center on building tools and partnerships that increase access to scientific knowledge and expand our capacity to understand and protect the natural world.
Her background spans wildlife rehabilitation, animal physiology, environmental education, molecular biology, behavioral ecology, and data analysis. She blends her passion for wildlife with her love of art and human connection to explore and protect the interconnected systems that sustain life.
Reilly has contributed over 3,000 hours to Liberty Wildlife, where she provides hands-on medical care to injured birds, reptiles, and mammals, and has mentored students through ASU's Bird Buddies and Gombe Archive programs. Her work has been presented at the International Society for Behavioral Ecology Congress and the National Science Foundation Long-Term Ecological Research Symposia.
