Reilly Hammond is a conservation biologist, educator, and artist whose work bridges wildlife health, community engagement, and technological innovation.
In her masters research, Reilly explored the intersection of color, chemistry, and contagious cancer in green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), developing noninvasive diagnostic tools to assess animal and ecosystem health. Her broader research goals are to increase access to education and resources, focusing on tools that help us better understand and appreciate our world and everything in it.
Her background is in wildlife rehabilitation, animal physiology, environmental education, molecular biology, behavioral ecology, and data analysis. She blends her passion for wildlife with her love of art and creating connection, to better understand and protect interconnected life systems.
Reilly has contributed over 3,000 hours to Liberty Wildlife, where she provides hands-on medical care to injured birds, reptiles, and mammals, and has mentored students through ASU’s Bird Buddies and Gombe Archive programs. Her work has been presented at the International Society for Behavioral Ecology Congress and the National Science Foundation Long-Term Ecological Research Symposiums.
