Long Bio
Hi, my name is Jessica. I'm born and raised in Baltimore, MD and can't wait to eventually make our big move to the PNW in the next few years. I love hiking and am currently researching and preparing for my eventual trek of the PCT. I have a 4lb Yorkie, named Yuca (yoo-kuh) who is my bestie :). We also have to rescue kittens named Opal and Jasper (and yes, they ALL have IG accounts [linked for the curious] hahaha - I am that Mom). I have two adult-ish children, one 16 and one soon to be 18. Both are in college - one studying Computer Science and the other Psychology. My husband is an LCPC and runs his own practice and teaches at Towson University as well. I am a full time Designer and Creative Director (currently working in non-profit / humanitarian) and have worked for a variety of companies and industries over the past 15 years - from start-ups to Disney and Google and everything in between. I have also been a professional photographer for 20.
I am starting my BA journey with the milestone of turning 40 and have decided that I am giving myself the next ten years (I'm taking my time) to transition into a new career. I love what I do, but I'm getting burnt out and want my second act to be different. I am attending ASU online with a Forensic Science program track. I intend to then move onto University of New Haven after my degree. My goal is to become a Forensic Genetic Genealogist. As I neared 40, I knew I wanted to do something meaningful with my life. I want to work in Doe Identification, Cold Cases, Exonerations (The Innocence Project), as well as Convictions using Science and good ole fashioned research. I want to make a difference for others, not just make pretty things. I want to, one day, leave the world better than I found it - if at all possible.
It's very nice to meet you!
