Horacio Velasquez Melo

Horacio Velasquez divides his passions into two areas, the pleasure of teaching and the satisfaction of helping and guiding colleagues and productions through Film & Media complex Post-Production designed Pipeline Workflow. "Education using tech to help culture to heal the soul" as he says.

In the Film & Media content market Horacio has worked as a bridge between manufacturers and artists mainly in the US and Latin America. Directly acting with Executive Management, Technology, Innovation, and content creation and distribution.

Former engineering director for Seachange for LATAM, Technology Manager for TV Globo’s Exhibition and Distribution center at the broadcaster HQ, Executive Editing artistic and technical supervisor at the Entertainment Post-production center in Estudios Globo (formerly known as Projac), Post-Production Equipment Specialist (Editing, Color Grading & VFX) for international resale groups such as CIS Group & Avcom.

Horacio has also been sharing knowledge since the early stages of his professional career became an Avid certified Instructor and Demo Artist in nonlinear post-production technology for AVID during worldwide events like the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB – Las Vegas, NV) and SET (Brazilian Television Engineers).

As academic professor his experience covers working for several Brazilian Universities (Estácio de Sá, Universidade Salgado de Oliveira and IBMR) ministering in courses in Mass Media Communication, Advertising, Audiovisual Production and Film as well as in areas linked to artistic and technological innovation and new media studies, where he also helped developing new courses. Horacio has also participated ministering lectures and technical/artistic training in several organized events by the same Universities.

He also worked as instructor in technical institutions such as CCAT (Venezuela), AVCOM (Venezuela and Colombia) & ProClass (Brazil), and also worked as a free-lance consultant ministering lectures and training to several leading Audiovisual companies such as ABC, HBO Latin American Group, TV Globo, Equipment resellers and post-Houses mainly in the US and Latin America.

Today works as a Full Time Professor at the Newly created Sidney Poitier New American Film School in The Herberger Institute of Arts and Design at the Arizona State University, and he likes to be involved in his free time in technical experimental films with social focused themes, game development productions as well as producing podcasts.
